Is Obama's New Scholarship for Moms Program Worth It?

In an effort to aid moms in returning to college, Obama has began a "new" scholarship, or grant for moms via the Federal Pell Grant. I don't understand why Obama decided to fix this "problem". Yes, he has made the application process for aids and grants easier, but nearly 99% of moms returning to college already have tuition paid for.

There are millions of scholarships for moms through states, various colleges, private organizations, and even grants from the Federal Government. Yes, I think it's great that he decided to help moms return to school although I feel he has fixed a problem that did not exist. Anyone with Internet access (or a library card-which presumably one returning to school should have) could simply searched a basic search engine (i.e. google) and discovered the existing aids, grants, and scholarships.

Personally, I think if he wants to focus on education problems he should help the average middle class student. You know, the one who fills out the FAFSA and it says their parents make too much, but in reality don't have the money. The ones who made honor roll, but fell short of that perfect G.P.A, the one that wasn't the star athlete, had a job through high school, isn't a minority, on welfare, and is well, average. The ones who will grow up to be middle class like their parents, the ones now known as the silent majority. Besides, these scholarships for moms, especially young, single, teenage moms have always existed, most have already made use of them, some have not but extra-unneeded aid is not going to motivate their return to education.
